Design Ethos
As an AAPI- and women-owned practice, we value diverse perspectives and a collaborative design process. STUDIO EDITION translates shared aspirations into places that matter through design frameworks and practical solutions.
We believe places matter most when they invite people in and become part of community life. Rather than competing for attention, they create opportunities for curiosity, connection, and everyday discovery.
Nature, Close at Hand
Creating opportunities to engage with nature through everyday experiences.
Life Between Buildings
Designing places that support social, cultural, and civic life.
Value Over Time
Supporting stewardship and investment in people, place, and community.
From the Studio
Misa Chen, PLA, ASLA
Founder, Studio Director
With more than two decades of professional experience spanning complex public realm projects, campuses, and mixed-use developments, Misa founded STUDIO EDITION to explore a question that continues to guide her work: how can design elevate the ordinary moments of everyday life? Known for a collaborative process, she works closely with clients, communities, and project teams to translate shared aspirations into places that matter. Her approach values clarity over complexity, pursuing elegant solutions that support how people gather, move, connect, and experience a place.
Misa holds a BLA from Tung-Hai University in Taiwan and an MLA from the University of Pennsylvania. Outside her practice, she has taught design studios at Temple University and Thomas Jefferson University and frequently serves as a guest critic for regional design programs.
